Damon graduated from the University of Georgia with a BFA degree and began his career as an illustrator and graphic designer. Among his numerous honors are two finalist certificates from the prestigious International Cleo Awards. During the last decade Damon's passion for portraiture and plein air painting has become his prime focus and he now devotes his energies full time as a fine artist.

Clients and collectors of Damon's work include such notables as Mr. Ted Turner, Turner Communications (Time Warner) Atlanta, GA; The MeadWestvaco Corporation, Richmond, Virginia; Kappa Sigma Fraternity, International Memorial Headquarters, Charlottesville, VA; Downey, Cleveland, Parker, Williams and Davis, Marietta, GA; the Uncle Remus Museum, Eatonton, GA (Joel Chandler Harris permanent collection); Georgia Public Broadcasting (Ambassador Andrew Young's portrait); Standard Office Systems, Atlanta, GA; and a host of private clients and collectors in the U.S. and abroad.

Over the years, Damon has studied with such noted artists as Nelson Shanks, David Leffel, Burton Silverman, Richard Whitney, John Howard Sanden, Charles Reid, Jim Schell, Marc Chatov, Richard MacDonald, Matt Smith, Ralph Oberg, Scott Christensen, Ken Auster, George Strickland and Ned Mueller.

The quality of his work has been recognized both locally and nationally. In 1989, he was honored as a finalist in the Artist Magazine's National Portrait Contest from a field of over 10,000 entries, and in 2011 he was juried into the Oil Painters of America's National Show in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.

Damon is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the Portrait Society of America and the Portrait Society of Atlanta. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Portrait Society of Atlanta and served as president from 1993 to 1995. He is also a very active member of the Plein Air Painters of Georgia, where he paints on location as often as possible.

Damon sells portraits through Portraits South in Raleigh, NC. Landscapes and other works can be seen at the Lagerquist Gallery in Atlanta, GA; and the 1401 Gallery in Chattanooga, TN.

He believes a true artist never stops learning, and he constantly studies the works of the old masters in art museums, galleries, and his growing studio library.

Damon loves the process of painting. He believes that Picasso said it best with this quote; "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
